Design according to patterns of Nature

Summary

Theoretical-practical workshop to learn how to create modules, bio-inspired in the pattern of an organism using the techniques of 3D printing or laser cutting.

Design according to patterns of Nature

The patterns and shapes in Nature respond to the repetition of an order, and arise from the growth and the processes of adaptation to the environment. Patterns pervade the natural world and moved by the awe we can observe their geometries at different scales, to identify complex systems or to model mathematically its principles and laws. Stripes, swirls, spots, fractures, symmetries, ramifications, mosaics and bubbles are some of the most common patterns.

We will have a workshop to work with different structural patterns found in Nature and learn to transform this inspiration in design, experimenting with the generation of forms and geometries organic. We will address the technical implementation through the study of the manufacturing processes, additive and subtractive, the operation of the 3D printers and cutting machines, as well as the preparation of the file to send to manufacturing (basic level). At the end of the course attendees will have acquired the knowledge about how to innovate in design, through biomimicry and the digital fabrication technologies to modernize the processes of creation and production.
